Play Dough - Microwaved
- 2 cups plain flour
- 1 cup salt
- 1 tablespoon cream of tartar
- 2 tablespoons cooking oil
- 2 cups water
- Food colouring
Method
1. Mix together the flour, salt and cream of tartar.
2. Add the water and the oil.
3. Stir well until the mixture has no lumps.
4. Mix in the food colouring until the desired colour is reached.
5. Microwave on half power for six minutes, stirring approximately every minute.
6. Allow to cool thoroughly before kneading well.
As an alternative, the colouring can be added at the end, kneading it well in. This will allow the dough to be split and dyed in different colours, although more vibrant colours can be achieved by adding the colour to the liquid as stated in the recipe.
This recipe makes lovely springy soft dough, ideal for a wide variety of uses. If kept in an airtight container or sealed plastic bag it should keep well for about two weeks.
