So you are thinking about or are deciding to open a Pickleball facility. Now What? There are so many different things to consider and oh so many people giving you advice. In this article we attempt to break down some things you will want  to consider while you develop you Pickleball empire and open you courts!

  • Use high-quality materials for court surfaces that provide good traction and are easy to maintain.
  • Install proper fencing around the courts to contain balls and provide safety.

Equipment

  • Invest in high-quality pickleball nets, posts, and paddles.
  • Provide storage solutions for equipment when not in use.

Amenities

  • Set up restrooms and water stations for players.
  • Consider adding a pro shop where players can buy equipment and accessories.

Reservation System

  • Implement an efficient reservation system to manage court bookings and player schedules.
  • Be sure to gather what your requirements are for booking courts and remember: how you want your members to engage at your facility and with the technology matters!

Programming and Events

  • Offer various programming, including open play sessions, leagues, tournaments, and lessons for players of all skill levels.

Staffing

  • Employ knowledgeable staff, including court managers, coaches, and event coordinators, to ensure smooth operations and player satisfaction.
  • You can also consider using a lock system on your courts so you lower your staffing costs. You can grant access to the courts without the cost of having someone onsite all day.

Safety Measures

  • Implement safety protocols, including first aid kits, emergency plans, and clear signage indicating safety guidelines.

Membership and Pricing

  • Decide on membership options, drop-in fees, and pricing structures that are reasonable and competitive.

Marketing and Promotion

  • Create a website or online presence to showcase facility information, upcoming events, and contact details.
  • Utilize social media and local advertising to attract players to the facility.

Feedback and Improvement

  • Regularly gather feedback from players to identify areas for improvement and address concerns.
